The Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society Inc. (GMDSS) was incorporated in 2001 as a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting persons diagnosed with Down syndrome and their families. Started by a small group of parents who had children born and diagnosed with Down syndrome, GMDSS has focused its main efforts on providing support to families, raising public awareness and fostering an understanding of Down syndrome. In addition to the creation of a support network for families the GMDSS also provides resources for the community, hosts social events and information workshops as well as conducts a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Annual General Meeting
The Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society holds an Annual Public Meeting for all members, families, service providers and community members interested in issues related to Down syndrome. In order to address the concerns of parents and families in the Greater Moncton area, families are asked to express to the board any topic or issue they wish addressed by GMDSS. The board selects topics relevant to area families and arranges information meetings and workshops open to all interested parties.

Public Meetings
The Society holds Public meetings periodically throughout the year, these meetings are relaxed and informal. They are open to our members, families, care givers, service providers and anyone with an interest in the society. This is a great time to meet new families and share information.

Board of Directors
The Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society Inc. consists of a volunteer Board of Directors made up of parents and professionals from the Greater Moncton region. The Board of Directors are nominated and voted in by the membership at out Annual general Meeting. To become a member of the Board of Directors you need to be a member in good standing. The Board of Directors is governed by a set of Bi-Laws, a copy of these are available to all members.
